Essential oils have been used for centuries as nature’s cure-all for a variety of ailments. For the hair and scalp, the benefits are abundant. Essential oils contain vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that stimulate hair growth, rejuvenate damaged hair, reduce scalp inflammation, dandruff and dry scalp. They also act as a hair softener, improve elasticity and detangling agent. When used routinely, essential oil treatments will prevent split ends, flaky and dry scalp, dandruff, and oily scalp. Essential oils also improve the hair shaft’s ability to withstand and recover from chemically damaging processes like over-bleaching or botched color jobs.

Split Ends occur due to a lack of moisture at the end of the hair shaft leading to breakage and appears as a split end. Typically they are resolved by simply getting a hair cut. But for clients who get split ends frequently and aren’t due for a hair cut, a split end treatment utilizes technology to remove split ends without taking any length. We recommend pairing a split end treatment with essential oil therapy to keep the ends moist and health to prevent breakage from the start.

A keratin treatment is very much a play on words because keratin is actually a structural protein. Hair is made of nearly 95% keratin. Hair gets dull and frizzy, especially as you get to the ends, due to the breakdown of keratin along the hair shaft. A keratin treatment basically adds layers of synthetic keratin to the hair shaft to make it straight, shiny, and smooth.

Collagen is also a protein. On the hair, collagen can be found toward the root and provides strength and elasticity. When the hair loses collagen, it appears flat and thin. Collagen treatments add layers of synthetic collagen that bring bounce and volume back to the hair. While keratin and collagen treatments sound similar, collagen treatments are a better option for clients with delicate or thin hair.
